“Every boy was probably going to die”: Inside the Thai cave rescue

February 6, 2019
|
Claire Brassard

Part two of two. After 15 days of searching and praying and planning, a team of rescuers working to save 12 boys and their coach trapped in a flooded cave had nothing left to do but try. And so the rescue began.

To the world watching on TV, it was a hopeful endeavour, with the boys being brought out one by one to cheers from a huge crowd gathered back from the cave. To those involved in the actual rescue, however, every rescue was a victory against overwhelming odds. In today's finale we go back to that cave and meet the heroes who did something that had literally never before been tried, and learn how their life changed afterwards.
